Coinbase Expands Partnership with Borussia Dortmund

Coinbase has been dealing with serious problems lately. It cut about 20 percent of its workforce in mid-past summer. Earlier this month, it laid off 950 more jobs and announced that it would cease operations in Japan, citing unfavorable economic conditions. The exchange still continues to maintain its existing collaborations.

Coinbase Maintains Borussia Dortmund Partnership

Coinbase is one of the most successful football teams in Germany. Borussia Dortmund(BVB) reportedly doubled its deal.

The crypto exchange began its partnership with Borussia Dortmund in July last year by running ads on video screens in the club’s stadium. Under the new terms, Coinbase will serve as a premium partner of BVB, offering its products and services. Signal-Iduna-Park (the club’s home ground and Germany’s largest stadium) and provide crypto-educational programs for team employees. It is unknown how much Coinbase spent on this deal.

General Manager of Borussia Dortmund Carsten CramerHe said that the deal will last until the end of June but could be extended depending on the future state of the cryptocurrency industry.

“The industry is very exciting but still new. So we want to keep our flexibility open.”
