European Car Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has published new car sales data in EU countries in 2022 according to fuel types.
Accordingly, 36.4 percent of the cars sold in EU countries last year were fuel oil, 22.6 percent hybrid, 16.4 percent diesel, 12.1 percent purely electric (BEV), 9.4 percent. Three plug-in hybrids (PHEV), 2.8 percent other fuels and 0.2 percent natural gas.
Thus, in the period in question, the share of electric and various hybrid cars in the total market in EU countries reached 44.1 percent.
In 2022, compared to the previous year, electric car sales increased by 28 percent to 1 million 123 thousand 778, hybrid sales increased by 8.6 percent to 2 million 89 thousand 653, plug-in hybrid car sales increased by 1.2 percent to 874 thousand 182, other alternative fuel car sales increased by 8 percent. It increased by 13.7 to 257 thousand 458.
Gasoline car sales decreased by 12.8 percent to 3 million 371 thousand 153, diesel sales decreased by 19.7 percent to 1 million 522 thousand 686, natural gas car sales decreased by 57.6 percent to 18 thousand 298.
