Home and Kitchenware Manufacturers and Exporters Association (EVSID) Leader Talha Özger said that they expect an increase in the exchange rate in the first two quarters of 2023.
Speaking to Bloomberg HT at the meeting where the household and kitchenware segment announced its goals for 2023, Özger said, “The exchange rate will increase a little more in the first and second quarters of this year, and this increase will be more appropriate for us. If there is an increase in the exchange rate in the following periods, we can reflect the increased costs and increases in personnel salaries to exports. Our current plus side is that raw material prices are stable. We did not make huge price increases in our export markets to keep the wheels of exports turning. We did not increase the price in order not to lose our customers. If the exchange rate increases by 7-10 percent, it will be a comforting situation for us,” he said.
“There will be 10-15 percent increase in prices in the first quarter”
Özger said that there will be an increase in prices in the field of residential goods in the first quarter of 2023 and continued his words as follows: In 2022, we increased our prices in a gradual form. Even when raw material prices tripled, we did not suddenly increase prices. It will be the same this year. In terms of time, there will be an increase of 10-15 percent in the first quarter.
