Growth comment from IMF’s number 2 name

In an interview with Bloomberg in Davos, Gita Gopinath, Deputy Leader of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), predicted that global growth will pick up from the second half.

IMF Deputy Leader Gita Gopinath gave more optimistic messages about global growth in a statement to Bloomberg.

Gopinath stated that the opening of the Chinese economy is good news for the world and that the recovery in the Chinese economy will spread to the rest of the world.

Gopinath noted that there will be no valuable revision in the global economics report, which will be published at the end of January, after the IMF has reduced its global growth forecasts three times.
Gopinath noted that 2023 will also be a severe year, but global growth will increase after the second half of the year and the worst will not be seen.

Gopinath, who stated in Zurich that the rapprochement of the USA and China and bilateral contacts are also valuable for the world, said that the USA should raise the debt ceiling as soon as possible and remove it from being a problem.

Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu He gave a positive opinion on growth in his speech in Davos yesterday, and stated that Kovid-19 events have seen the top this year and that the growth in the Chinese economy will now return to pre-pandemic levels.
