Kraken Hires New Chief Compliance Officer
Kraken has hired a new chief compliance officer these days, while shrinking moves are coming from the actors in the cryptocurrency market. CJ Rinaldi joined Kraken after serving as chief compliance officer at crypto services firm Blockchain[.]com from October 2021 to December 2022.
Rinaldi was tasked with reducing the risk of Blockchain[.]com and expanding its global compliance framework. Prior to Blockchain[.]com, Rinaldi served as chief compliance officer at Deutsche Bank and previously served as senior advisor to the Executive Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Jesse Powell, CEO of Kraken for more than 11 years, left his position on September 21, 2022, with the company’s COO David Ripley taking over as CEO. Kraken laid off 30 percent of its employees on November 30, 2022 to help “weave the crypto storm” and many crypto firms such as Bitso, Gemini, Immutable went to downsize in the tough market conditions last year.
