British Sky News reported that the company is preparing to lay off thousands of people.

In the news, it was noted that Microsoft, which employs more than 220,000 people, plans to reduce its workforce by about 5 percent, which means the dismissal of approximately 11 thousand people.

According to Bloomberg’s report, sources close to the matter stated that Microsoft plans to go to layoffs in some engineering units on January 18.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s balance sheet for the October-December period of last year is expected to be announced on January 24, while analysts expect the company to record its slowest revenue growth since fiscal 2017.

The wave of layoffs grows in the tech sector

While rising inflation and possible recession have caused worries in the technology sector, many technology companies, especially in the USA, have started to decide to lay off thousands of people or make new hires last year.

It was noteworthy that there were leading companies in the technology sector such as Meta and Amazon in the middle of these companies.

Finally, the US cloud-based software company Salesforce announced that it had decided to reduce its workforce by 10 percent.
