My child is not eating

In this text; The food choice behavior in children was examined and suggestions based on the Cognitive Behavioral School were made to change this behavior.

My Child Is Not Eating

Children’s eating habits may vary. Some days, children eat very little, some days they eat all day long. Every child is different when it comes to eating. Some may be very greedy, and some may be very picky about food.

For example; Your child may not want to eat a food that you like very much. Forcing him may only cause him to dislike that food and perhaps not to consume that food when he is an adult. Here, it should not be treated in an insistent and stubborn way about that food. The important thing is; It is to make sure that the child gets the daily required amount of minerals, vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

Children sometimes do not want to eat certain foods as a reaction. On the basis of these behaviors; Children’s desire to act independently and sometimes their desire to spend more time with their families may lie. At this point, as families, steps should be taken patiently towards the needs of the child.

The second step is to make mealtimes fun, loved, not hated.

What you eat is important. The child should not eat with the tablet, phone. Separate time should be devoted to this.

WAYS TO BE FOLLOWED IN CREATING PROPER NUTRITION HABITS

The child knows how much to eat. Let your child eat as much as he wants, do not force him. Slowly offer your child a spoonful or two of each type of food. Continue if your child wants it, stop proposing if he doesn’t.

Even if she doesn’t eat certain foods, be patient and offer them again after a week or two. You can mix the food he likes with the food he doesn’t like. Make him see fruits and vegetables and emphasize that they are not something to be afraid of.

The purpose of all these techniques is to neutralize the negative conditioning related to eating (and to neutralize other stimuli that have nothing to do with food), in a separate reinforcement method called Grandma’s Rule, if the child eats a food he does not like, then he can eat a food he likes.

Children may have different eating habits. The most obvious feature is that they are picky about foods. Every child has a different soul, their character is different. Therefore, they may show different selective behaviors. The process can be sustained with the help of advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and medication in problems that continue for years and reduce the functionality of the child and family.

Note! Sometimes a physiological condition may make it difficult for the child to eat, and this situation should not be overlooked.
