Russia spent 2.4 trillion rubles to close the budget deficit

The Ministry of Finance of Russia reported that 2.4 trillion rubles (about $ 35 billion) was spent from the National Welfare Fund to cover the budget deficit.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Finance of Russia, it was recorded that the National Welfare Fund has 10.4 trillion rubles with the prestige of January 1.

In the statement, which was informed that some of the assets in the fund were sold in December 2022 in accordance with the budget rules, it was stated that the assets sold were worth 2.4 trillion rubles.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced on January 10 that the budget deficit stood at 3.3 trillion rubles (approximately $48 billion) in 2022.

Due to the sanctions of Western countries, the budget in Russia is expected to run a deficit for the next 3 years.
